Bummer, man. Demi Moore, of Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle fame, has been burglarized, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed on Friday.
The heist took place at the actress’s North Hollywood storage unit and, according to various sources, the loss of haute couture and other clothing items is being valued at around $200,000.
So, just how much is Moore missing, exactly? We reached out to couture expert Dana Thomas, author of Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster, for a better idea.

“If they were gowns, three or four, max,” says Thomas, explaining that couture gowns when Demi was likely buying most of them, in the late ‘80s and ‘90s, cost $50,000 to $75,000; now, they’d be $100,000+.
“If they were cocktail dresses and suits or day dresses, then ten at the very most,” Thomas continues. “They ran between $20,000 to $30,000 apiece in the early and mid-1990s. The Bruce Years. I remember seeing [Moore] at shows then. Versace, Dior, Chanel maybe. She went to Versace a lot, in Paris and Milan.”
Of course, Thomas notes that it’s unlikely Moore always paid the actual price tag on her costly wares. “I would guess, though, she didn’t always pay—that celebrity freebie thing—or if she did, she most likely had a generous discount.”
Although the items were just reported missing on Monday, it’s said that no one in Camp Demi had even gone to the unit in at least six months—meaning the robbery could’ve happened at any time.
TMZ also reported that there wasn’t any indication of forced entry into the storage unit. Hmm. So maybe the thief was… a GHOST?
Either way, we really hope dance mom Demi gets her stuff back soon—whether she paid for it herself or not. |
